A Measurable Difference in Performance and Value™

Our journey started in the 1970s when our founders at a predecessor company threading steel pipe began experimenting with composite wraps. Using the technology at the time, they were able to increase burst pressure to 14,000 psi from 7,000 psi and built a healthy business. That is when we first saw the potential for composites to dramatically increase performance in piping applications.

Fast forward to 2008, and poly pipe had found wide acceptance for a variety of applications in multiple industries, including Oil & Gas, Mining, Wastewater, Power Generation and more. Standard HDPE poly pipe is easy to work with, cost effective, leak-free, and resistant to corrosion and abrasion. It is easy to see how quickly poly pipe was adopted in multiple industrial markets.

That is when we began working on composite wraps for standard HDPE pipe. If it worked on steel, then composites should generate similar results with poly pipe. Although it had never been done successfully before on a large diameter pipe, we figured it would take our team about two weeks to crack the code on wrapping commodity HDPE with composites.

Well, it took a little longer than we originally thought. In fact, it took us about eight years longer than expected to perfect the manufacturing process, which we eventually patented. At each step of the way, we encountered new problems that had to be solved, but solve them we did.

The result of our persistence and multifunctional expertise in chemical, mechanical and civil engineering is MaxDR®, the first large diameter fusible composite poly pipe durable enough for real-world handling and applications.

The MaxDR innovation represents the next generation of poly pipe, offering industry A Measurable Difference in Performance and Value with a composite HDPE pipe that is substantially thinner than standard HDPE with comparable pressure ratings and internal dimensions for the same application and able to handle 2-3 times more pressure. Importantly, because MaxDR uses less material than the equivalent HDPE pipe, it reduces carbon intensity and puts a lighter load on the environment.
