Composite Piping Technology Launches MaxDR™, the World’s First Large Diameter Fusible Composite Poly Pipe

By BG | News, MaxDR | 0 comment | 2 June, 2023 | 0
  • MaxDR™ is the first large diameter fusible composite poly pipe and marks the sixth generation of HDPE pipe.
  • Provides the strength of composite with the ease of working with standard HDPE pipe.
  • Uses less material for a pipe that is lighter than comparable ID and pressure rated HDPE pipe, reducing handling costs, accelerating project installation, and improving sustainability.
  • Offers lowest total cost of ownership compared to other pipe materials.

KILGORE, TEXAS — Composite Piping Technology LLC (CPT), a leader in composite pipe technology solutions, today announced the launch of MaxDR™, the world’s first large diameter fusible composite poly pipe. MaxDR promises to revolutionize the pipe market by delivering a material difference in performance and value.

MaxDR offers significant advantages over current poly, fiberglass, and steel pipe in a wide range of applications. CPT’s patented design and manufacturing process uses a cohesive fiberglass wrap with a protective HDPE cover to produce a thinner pipe maximizing its dimensional ratio (DR) for safely handling higher pressures.

3 Sizes of MaxDR - Fusible Composite Poly Pipe

Benefits of MaxDR:

  • Delivers 2-3x greater pressure performance as compared to equivalent ID and pressure rated poly pipe.
  • Available in 12” to 24” diameters.
  • Safely works with operating pressures of 350, 550 and 750 psi.
  • No-leak fusion joint connections using same equipment and procedures as HDPE pipe.
  • Wide range of gas and liquids, including highly corrosive and abrasive products.
  • Meets or exceeds ASTM and API standards applicable to traditional HDPE 4710 pipe.
  • RFID tag embedded into every joint of pipe for full traceability in digital format.

“MaxDR represents the sixth generation of HDPE pipe with a measurable difference in performance and value,” said B.G. Clark, President at Composite Piping Technology. “MaxDR delivers better pressure performance with 50% less  material of equivalent ID and pressure rated HDPE pipe.  Our pipe is a game changer in high pressure applications where corrosion resistance is critical. MaxDR is lighter, stronger, and easier to work with than alternatives for the same applications. Importantly, MaxDR offers the lower capital and installation costs with the smallest carbon intensity of any piping solution on the market.  We are extremely excited about our new plant, currently in construction, that will allow us to build all sizes of MaxDR, moving from our Pilot Plant where we are able to produce 12” MaxDR in all pressure classes.“

Chris Taylor, Vice President of Engineering, said, “We are excited about bringing MaxDR to market. It took a decade of persistence, focus and innovative thinking to develop a large diameter composite poly pipe that is lighter and stronger than conventional poly pipe and just as easy to use. Engineers can design pipelines with MaxDR using their existing standards and construction crews can fuse MaxDR joints together with the same tools and techniques they use today.”

About Composite Piping Technology

Composite Piping Technology LLC (CPT) is leading the revolution in composite piping through advanced technology and manufacturing methods.  Our patented design and manufacturing process converts ordinary HDPE pipe to a higher operating pressure capacity while lowering the cost on an equivalent internal dimensional and operating pressure basis. Our flagship product, MaxDR™, is the first large diameter fusible composite poly pipe and delivers A Material Difference in Performance and Value™ because it has a thinner wall than conventional HDPE pipe yet handles significantly higher operating pressures. MaxDR is designed for liquids, gases and slurries for a wide range of applications in Oil & Gas, Industrial & Mining, Water & Wastewater, and CO2 gathering sectors.
