East Bound and Down! MaxDR® Higher Pressure HDPE Pipe Heads to Pennsylvania for New Produced Water Pipeline Project

By a3afd12e_admin | Water Midstream, MaxDR, News | 0 comment | 11 September, 2025 | 0

We’re excited to share that MaxDR™ pipe has begun shipment and installation for a new 6.5-mile produced water pipeline project in the Utica-Marcellus in Pennsylvania. An E&P operator chose MaxDR over HDPE DR7 and fiberglass after weighing cost, performance, and installation challenges in the state’s mountainous terrain.

Beating Others in Tough Conditions

The operator was challenged due to hydraulic pressures exceeding standard HDPE pipe while finding there was no other suitable pipe alternatives. Searching for high pressure pipe for produced water, the operator identified MaxDR. After several discussions and data sharing, it became evident that MaxDR could reliably handle operating pressures above 350 psi across multiple segments of the alignment. MaxDR’s flexibility and fusible connections offered an easily constructable project, lowering both risk and cost.

Higher Pressures, Greater Value

MaxDR large-diameter fusible composite poly pipe is designed to handle higher operating pressures, making it an ideal choice for many corrosive or abrasive fluids including produced water service. This operator selected three MaxDR pipe sizes with two pressure ratings to meet the flow and pressure requirements to optimize performance while minimizing project costs.

  • MaxDR 350 12″ – rated for 350 psi
  • MaxDR 350 16″ – rated for 350 psi
  • MaxDR 550 18″ – rated for 550 psi

The Right Solution, at the Right Time

This order highlights the advantages MaxDR delivers to water midstream operators:

  • Can handle higher pressures than standard DR7 HDPE
  • Flexibility for tough terrain
  • Fewer fittings than fiberglass
  • Cost savings from fusible joints and lighter weight pipe

MaxDR higher pressure large-diameter fusible composite HDPE pipe is demonstrating it can go where other pipes can’t – helping operators move water more safely, more efficiently, and at lower cost.
