High-Pressure Composite HDPE Pipe for Oil & Gas

MaxDR® is purpose-built for the extreme conditions encountered in oil & gas production, including gathering, distribution, and fluids transmission.

MaxDR fusible, composite HDPE pipe performs at a higher-pressure (350 – 750 psi) than conventional HDPE pipe while offering the corrosion resistance and other benefits of HDPE. It delivers all the strength, durability, flexibility, and reliability required for use in oil and gas including produced water, crude oil, natural gas, and CO2 for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR).

MaxDR takes HDPE to where only fiberglass and steel have gone before, due to its larger diameters and higher working pressures.

Why MaxDR Pipe for Oil & Gas

On the low-end, a joint of MaxDR 350 uses far less material than the equivalent ID DR7 poly pipe due to a thinner HDPE wall strengthened by composite material, which means it achieves higher operating pressures at approximately half the weight.  This makes MaxDR lighter and easier to handle, less expensive to transport, and faster to fuse – all while delivering a lower total cost of ownership.  On the high-end, MaxDR provides working pressures that are only offered by fiberglass and steel.

Benefits of MaxDR High Pressure Composite HDPE Pipe for Oil & Gas

Higher Pressure Capabilities

MaxDR supports higher working pressures (350 – 750 psi), making it a rugged solution for long-distance transport, challenging topographies, and elevated pressure pipelines for a wide range of liquids and gases. MaxDR is not susceptible to liner collapse due to sudden decompression like coilable composite pipes.

Fusible, Leak-Free Joints

MaxDR uses standard HDPE fusing equipment creating the same leak free joint as standard HDPE pipe. Additionally, MaxDR Fusion Parameters are now embedded in the McElroy DataLogger® for assured joint integrity.

Corrosion-Resistant Construction

Unlike steel, MaxDR is corrosion and abrasion resistant – providing long service life even when exposed to produced water, CO₂, H₂S, and other challenging substances. Being it is HDPE material, there is no need for cathodic protection, further reducing operating costs.

Lightweight and Fast to Install

Its lightweight, flexible design makes MaxDR less expensive to transport and accelerates installation using commonly available fusing equipment, cutting project timelines and lowering total installed costs.

Field-Proven Durability

Designed to withstand harsh weather, difficult soils, heavy surface loads, and aggressive operating cycles.

Produced Water Transport

Handles corrosive and higher-pressure produced water with exceptional long-term performance.

Crude Oil Transport

A rugged alternative to steel pipelines, resistant to corrosion, and mechanical stress.

Natural Gas Gathering

Suitable for gas gathering systems in demanding field conditions, with fused joints that eliminate leak pathways.

CO₂ Transport

Engineered to handle corrosive CO₂ streams, offering reliable service without the corrosion risks associated with steel.
